It was another great race weekend out at COTA. The weather was all over the place, ranging from cool and wet to sunny but not too hot.
The photos below are in no particular order. As always, it's never the same event as far as taking photos go. I was again joined by my friend Deno, and he’s allowed me to include some of his photos. He was shooting with a Nikon Z9 and a nice telephoto lens. I had my Nikon D500 and mostly used my 70-300mm lens. After looking at his photos, I desperately want to get a Z8.
This year I was excited when I discovered that f*@!king tree in the middle of the view between turns 7 and 8 was gone! But my elation didn't last long for I soon discovered that my 600mm lens wouldn't auto-focus. So I was stuck with using my 300mm lens, which doesn't quite have the reach needed when you are far enough back and up the hill to see over the fence.
We also were unable to get back to the spot that gave us great shots at turn 20 last year. But the challenges of getting good photos from outside the fence is part of the fun for me.
Our stadium seats, right at the start of turn 17, made up for my earlier disappointments by providing some good views of turns 13, 14, and 15 as well as turns 1 and 2.
I hope you enjoy a few of these photos, I had a good time taking them and think we got some pretty good shots.
